A few weeks after having Weston I started getting these awful pains. It would start under my rib cage and go back to my spine. It felt like I couldn't breath and the pain was so bad I couldn't get comfortable in any position sitting, lying, or standing. I ended up pacing the floor moaning out in pain. A few times I actually thought I was going to die. I was terrified to leave Derek with two little boys.
I thought the cause was my spine. I thought I needed a chiropractic adjustment after having the baby. But when I got an adjustment and then a few days later had another episode, I didn't know what was happening. I would pace the floor with a hand massager on my spine in the place it hurt and after a couple hours, I would feel better and would sleep it off. Then the next day I would feel great, like nothing had ever happened.
On the 5th attack of this (yes I am that slow to respond to things--DUH Katie) Derek took me to the hospital where they found out I had about 4 dozen gall stones. This was actually a huge relief to me. My spine diagnosis was a lot more terrifying.
So, this past Tuesday I got my gall bladder removed. I am so relieved not to have this pain anymore. I am still a bit sore and taking it easy but things went really well and I'm glad it's over.
My mom came up to help out with the boys and oh my gosh I was grateful for her help. She just left today and we are really sad to see her leave. Van had such a blast with Grandma, he's really going to miss her being around.

Wowwy! I am glad you figured it out. I had a similar thing happen after having Owen, only it was my appendix. The doctor who took my appendix out told me that it is very common for women to have appendix and gallbladder problems after having a baby. Weird eh?
I am glad you are doing well.
Ouch! So glad to hear it wasn't anything more serious and that you were able to get it taken care of. Rest up and get better!
Do u know how many if my friends have had this problem within the first year after having their babies!!! As soon as I read the first sentence of your post.. I said, " she has gallstones" it's so weird how common this is becoming! U hope u feel better soon!
That's supposed to say I hope u feel better!!!!
I have decided that we are surgery sisters. First the talk about the adenoids (BTW: Have you looked into it yet?) And now gall bladder removal. I had mine out when Reed was 6 months old. I too thought I was gonna die, my back hurt so bad.
I hope you heal well. Tell Derek hello for me.
Scary! Hope you are up and at 'em again soon.
