We've been trying to stay busy, not that we have to try too hard...School has started back up for Derek and myself. That mixed with work should explain the lack of postings on here. So let me try to fill in the past few weeks. Well, my sister, Shawna, came up for the day a couple weeks back. It was really nice to see her. She and I (and the baby) took a trip to Ikea to find some shelving which we barely managed to cram in the trunk of my car. Then we met up with Derek and Van for some dinner at Cha Cha Cha's mexican food. YUM! Van was really cute. When we were getting ready to leave, he got up and started dancing to the lively music. The workers were commenting and watching, but that didn't deter him. I guess its like Gloria Estephan says, "the rhythm is going to get you!" Then we took a bit of a stroll downtown. Van only wanted to hold Aunt Shawna's hand, it was cute. By the time Shawna had to leave, she mentioned that maybe sometime Van could come and spend the night at her house. Van looked at her and said "Shawna, you stay here", then he ran to his bedroom to look for his shoes....he was totally disappointed to have to stay home with mom and dad :(

As usual, we hit up the Portland Zoo for $2 Tuesday. It was a gloomy and rainy day which turned out to be a perfect day to visit the zoo! We were one of the few people who dared to venture out ($2 Tuesday with good weather is typically a mad house).
It was a lot of fun; we met up with our good friends Melinda and Jason. Jason and Van are best buds. Derek even ditched a class to meet up with us. It was totally worth it, we had a lot of fun. Here are a few pics of our outing:

Outside of the parakeet exhibit you can buy cups of juice to feed to the birds. When you head inside, the birds are very interested in sampling the goods. They are kinda forceful about it....and definately not shy.
Van was cool with helping dad feed the birds, that is, until.....
...one landed on his head. He shooed it off and then wanted nothing to do with these terrible little creatures. I have to admit I kind of agreed. It was a very neat exhibit, but made me feel a bit like I was on the set of "The Birds." It creeped me out that they kept swooping right past my head. Makes me shutter just thinking about it, the flapping of their wings and the constant threat of poo.------------------------
Just today, we went with our good friends, the Lloyds, to this awesome pumpkin patch at Lake View Farms. It was the best one we've been to thus far. They've got the coolest stuff.
To get out to the pumpkin patch you take a boat ride...Awesome.

...a shark appears. Van thought this was too cool, he kept telling me about the big shark in the water! A bit farther along, there was also 2 dragon/lock ness monster things that pop up. The boys loved it.

Looks like fun! We most definilty want to go there. I was just trying to think of a new one to do this year. Thanks for the idea!
No problem, hope you like it as much as we did. I would just warn you not to go when its raining. Our shoes were covered in mud by the end.
