Van's Sleep Study

Van went for a sleep study last night. He and Derek were even put up in a fancy hotel on the waterfront: sweet. You're probably wondering why? Well, we've noticed a continued problem with his sleep. He has sleep apnea (which is when you stop breathing while sleeping). We really only noticed it when he would have a stuffy nose from a cold, but lately we've noticed it more often. There isn't much that they can do about it in kids, other than surgery (they would take out his tonsils or adnoids or both). The doctor who examined Van did notice his tonsils were larger than normal. We are hoping that surgery wont be necessary, but on the flip side it can be detremental if he isn't getting enough oxygen to his brain while sleeping: hence the importance of the sleep study. They monitored his oxygen levels, among other things, while he slept. We will let you know the outcome when we find out.
