Here's the story: Our boss told us about this new complex, sounds great-nicer, close to school, so we accept. He informs the former managers that they need to move by a certain date (Tuesday). We set up a move for Saturday. We are informed on Thursday that they aren't going to be out til the weekend. We cancel the truck and helpers (thankfully we aren't fully packed yet). The weekend passes by and we go over to the apt to check. We peek in a window and see, to our disappointment, that everything is still in place. After our boss serves him a notice of pending eviction, this former manager finally calls our boss, a positive change from just ignoring all contact with our boss, and he says he has had problems with his wife/girlfriend who left him and he can't find her (blah blah blah) but that he isn't going to delay this anymore, so he will be out by Thursday. Our hope is renued because the story actually sounded legit. Our boss was positive telling us we might be able to salvage a weekend move. Then on Thursday we find out it has been pushed to Friday evening, since he scheduled a moving truck for Friday afternoon. The gullible folks we are, we start heavily packing, we set up a company to come clean our new apt on Saturday morning, we schedule our truck/friends for the afternoon (we are determined to move before I start summer school on Monday). I go over to the apt Friday night as scheduled (at 8:30 to pick up the keys and to paint--we were going to have accent walls). I show up, walk past the apt. See that all the lights are on. Hmmm, that's strange. I peek in and to my astonishment/shock/appall, all of the furniture is still in place. Nothing has moved or changed. I can see into an open kitchen cupboard, and its full of items. There is cereal on top of the fridge. There are plants in the living room.
Have you heard the quote: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
That's exactly how we feel right now. Ashamed to have been duped twice.
Sorry to everyone who was going to help us move, just to hear that we've cried wolf again. :(
(this is what our apt looks like now--and I thought it was hard living with boxes before...)

That is too bad. Hopefully he moves out soon!
That is just ridiculous. Just a warning though, the last time we had to do an actual eviction, the entire process took about a month before their stuff was all gone. Hopefully you can get into your place sooner than that. The legal process is pretty darn slow for situations like that.
Yes, we know all too well that eviction is a slow process. We are hoping that they will just leave instead of have an eviction on their records....especially since they were managers and do know how this stuff goes and how bad it is.
I am just wondering how the heck did they get this job in the first place?
