Fun in the Sun

It was a hot one today--record breaking, actually. It got up in the 90s, a far cry from the 100+ of our desert relatives, but for us Oregonians, who were living in the rain up until a few weeks ago, this is a big leap in temp. Needless to say, we were HOT. We packed up the sunblock (to keep our pasty whiteness as you see in the pics) and put on our swimwear and headed to Jameson Square (a fun water park in downtown Portland).
This was Weston's first real experience going into a mass of water and he loved it. I carried him over to a grass area where we put our umbrella, towels, and stuff, I put Wes down and he began making his way over to the water and crowd of people. At first when he tried to walk in the knee high water (knee high for Wes, ancle high for me), he would fall face first--a lot--but then acted like it was nothing while he continued crawling around in the water. It was too cute, except for the fact that he began trying to drink the chlorinated water, yuck. After a little while he got his sea legs and was able to easily walk in the water.
Van was funny this time around. I told him we were going to go swimming today and he was super excited all morning until we got there. When we got there he was really hesitant to go into the water. He would run in, get his legs wet, then run back out. It took a while for him to get fully wet like Wes and Dad, but the water was too enticing and he finally came around.
It was a perfect way to beat the heat, or I guess rather, enjoy the heat. Immediately upon leaving Weston fell asleep in the car and slept for the next 3 hours: a good day.
