Happy Easter

This was the first real year we did the whole Easter Bunny thing. I think every other year was me being lazy and justifying it by saying Van was too young to know any different. So this year was exciting. We started with an Easter book that we have, that talks all about what Easter is really about. We read this all week long leading up to this weekend. Then on Sat, as you saw, we went to an Easter Egg Hunt at the zoo. And today the Easter Bunny visited us after church (we decided after church because the boys wake up late and we're always struggling to get to church on time, so why add candy and toys to the mix). We had a wonderful time at church and Primary had an amazing object lesson about all the parts of the Resurrection. Then when we came home we found that the Easter Bunny had left us baskets.

I walked in with Weston first and his expression was priceless. He gasped and his jaw dropped open. I told him the Easter Bunny had visited us and he couldn't get down fast enough.

We bought these cute little sports balls. Weston is definitely a ball child, so he loved them. We also got a suction cup basket ball hoop, oh the hours of fun!
Van coming in to see that the Easter Bunny came.
He went straight for the toy train
Sheer joy in his face
Can't keep his eyes off
Wes coloring one of his toys.

Smart us, we decided to get minimal candy and more toys. It was a good idea because: first, Van doesn't even really like candy (weirdo) and second, they had a lot longer lasting fun with the toys.

The E. Bunny also brought us an egg coloring kit, but that didn't make it into todays shenanigans (meaning we took too many naps), it'll have to wait 'til tomorrow.

I love that look on Van's face as he peeks at the basket! Priceless.
