Spring Break...woo hoo!

We finally made it through this term and this past week we were on spring break. Which didn't start out til after Derek turned in his 14 page paper on Monday. After that we felt a weight lift off of our shoulders. We were thinking of what we should do. We looked at the weather report and saw that it was going to be raining practically all week, but there might be a break on Thursday. We thought that this might be our chance, so we headed out to the coast.

The Oregon coast is beautiful, but a lot different from what we grew up with in Southern California. We packed up the car and headed out at Van's nap time (worked like a charm). Betty on the other hand, was a bit nervous the whole way there. We went to Seaside--we've been before and knew that there was a cute main street to walk down. We walked down to the beach and played in the sand. We brought Betty's frisbee and she had a lot of fun running up and down the sand after it. Unfortunately when we were getting ready to head back to main street, Derek threw it one last time and she never brought it back...we lost it :( which makes about the 5th time losing one of those darn things within the past year.

Van however had a lot of fun. He pointed out helicopters that came past and found a long stick which he kept trying to use to write in the sand (and use as a weapon to fight dad). Down the main street there was also an indoor carousel which he was deathly afraid of at first, but then rode 2 more times and had a fit when we tried to leave.

We also had some home made ice cream, which was delicious. Van didn't care for the ice cream, but loved the waffle cone (who's child is this?).

On the way out we decided to drive past Cannon Beach which was 7 miles south. We're glad we did! What a cute town...Seaside is a bit ghetto in comparison. This is the "Goonies" beach.

Congrats on achieving a long car ride that pregnant! I told David 'no more' after I was 7 months. Some time you will have to do a good trip down the Coast from Astoria to Newport or Florence. It's such a wonderful drive (best to do it over 2 days) and maybe you can do it next summer with both your boys.

That sounds like a lot of fun. We love the Oregon Coast. That would be a great little road trip.

It's true, I promise. He didn't want any--I think it might have been too cold for him.
