Rash Update...and Rant

It's almost completely gone. Hooray! I think we will only have one more day without human interaction. I guess the only good thing that came from this is that I've had to put a lot more fore thought into my days with the boys (I don't know how teachers/homeschooling parents do it!!). We've gone on one good nature hunt (only day that wasn't raining). We found great leaves and put them into nature sacks that I made...I am a genius! I took gallon size ziploc bags, cut 2 holes towards the top, put string just long enough for the boys to hang it around their neck and under one arm and wallah an instant messenger bag. Worked great. That was truly our big adventure this week. Other than that I've been doing crafts with the boys (big hit with Weston and Van couldn't care less), I've made some semi-cool games--ring toss, bowling, balloon paddle tennis, etc. It's been, um, ...something.

Here's to hoping that the boys don't see this again any time soon.

Ok, time to rant, am I alone here...the only parent who keeps their kids home when they are sick??? I just don't get it; kids are being sent to Van's preschool with this (hand foot mouth). What the heck! Here I am keeping my contagious boys out of the public (while driving the lot of us crazy at home) and others are contamination the population, so once my boys get better and go back to school they are libel to pick this right back up. I am pretty annoyed with this whole thing.

I was scheduled to parent teach at Van's school this Wed and I just didn't want the hassle of having to contact people and switch days, so I had my mom watch the boys and I just went. While I was there I was scouring all the kids looking for signs of this illness. I had previously been told that another boy also had this (same time schedule as Van), so I was surprised to see said boy at school (with hand blisters JUST as bad as Van has). I was confused, upset, annoyed. He ended up sitting at my table for snack time and I was cringing the whole time noticing everything/everyone this boy touched (needless to say I didn't touch the snack). I talked with the teacher (who was in and out of conferences all day) and she was glad I was there and that I voiced my concern. She had our health person send out a notice to all parents about this illness and when/how long to keep kids home. Needless to say more kids at the school are getting this and I'm not really wanting to send Van back in case he will pick it up again (right before Thanksgiving). Darn stupid parents who have no respect for the health of other peoples kids. Apparently my thought/approach to illness is a conservative one (an approach that is obviously not shared by many).

Sorry to rant. It's over. The end.

I totally agree, especially with nursery. Please, if you have to wipe your kid's nose, they shouldn't be in nursery. Or at least in ours where they have at least 20 kids crammed into a small room each week. The boys are always getting sick. OK, my rant is over now too. :)
