Van was super super excited about starting school. Weston was a bit more apprehensive, it being his first time.
Van was supposed to start Kindergarten this year and this whole summer I anguished over this. We have felt that he simply isn't ready for a structured kindergarten program. He has a hard time sitting still, focusing, is a bit behind socially, among other things. I wasn't sure where to put him, because I could not find a Pre-K or a preschool that allows kids 5 and above. It was coming down to the wire and I ended up signing him up for a rec center "play school" program. I figured this could help him be exposed more socially. Anyways, I felt secure knowing I had him in something. Then I was talking with someone at church about Van and where I put him. She was telling me about the preschool she had her kids in and about the wonderful teachers and then informed me that if they get enough students, they were wanting to start a Pre-K afternoon program. I was a bit conflicted, since I just had put Van in a program and was feeling okay about it, but Derek and I decided to go to the parent orientation. We both knew right away that this was the right place for him and signed him up (Weston too)--after first making sure we could get a refund from the rec center.
I know this is where Van is meant to be and know the Lord was guiding us here. He is thriving and I have seen improvement in some areas already. He's excited to go to school (which he never was at any other preschool) and his teacher is absolutely wonderful. I feel so blessed to know that the Lord listens and answers our prayers.
I have borrowed this next thing from a friend (she did this last year and I thought it was such a great idea that I would like to do it every year). To have the first day of school pictures with answers to questions about them.
