Van is 2!!!

We've had a busy week!! Derek's mom and dad came up to bring us our new car (which we LOVE) and they stayed a week, we had an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, and on Saturday Van turned 2! Phew we were busy. For Van's birthday, we had a cowboy themed party and celebrated with family and friends. Our cowboy themed food was excellent and we made a train shaped cake that was totally cute. We had a fun time and Van loved opening all of his presents. He got some awesome toys and loves all of his new movies.

We took Van to get his 2 year old pictures. He was a bit apprehensive at first, but warmed up to the idea of smiling for the camera. He ended up liking it so much that by the end of it he was saying "more, more". He really got the hang of it--here are some of his cute poses (they show up a bit blurry here). We are so blessed to have such a wonderful and smart big boy. Van is such a sweet boy. He is growing so quickly--95% for height and 65% for weight! He loves learning all his letters and numbers and amazes me how many he knows. He has a great sense of humor and has such a wonderful belly laugh. We are so blessed to have him in our lives and watch him learn and grow every day.

We were quite proud of ourselves for creating this cute cake.

The spread turned out great--thanks to all who helped. Here's Paul, Blythe, Rosie, Tom, and baby Owen.

Grandpa and Grandma Marley enjoying their food. Van put his cowboy hat on mom's head.

Dad is pretending to ride his horse. Grandma Jones gets crowned with the cowboy hat too.

Van loved all his presents. Owen liked them too--mostly the bows.

A fun bouncy horse that terrified Van at first. Here's dad trying to make the horse less scary.

Fun hockey sticks and pucks. Uncle Tom shows Van how it works.

Van got 3 new movies that he loves--Thanks Grandma Jones!

We had a slight accident with the candle--Derek didn't realize it's only supposed to last for a few seconds before it burns through. But as you see we made it work.

At last, Van enjoying a bite of cake. What a great day!
